Jesse Leeworthy and Jonathan Bryt grew up spending time at the beach and noticed and increasing number of plastic bottles being washed ashore. They discovered that people in the US would buy 50 billion single use water bottles a year in turn, spending 14000x more than if they were to drink tap water (which is drinkable). The two innovators also found it frustrating trying to fit round bottles into laptop/ small bags. So they set out designing a product that would optimise transportation but still held the functionality of traditional water bottles.
This is what they came up with.
A reusable bottle that resembled the shape and sizes of a piece of paper, thus the name Memobottle. Because it is so thin and takes the dimensions of paper sizes A5 and A6 the products are able to simply slide into your bag without the bulk.
The Design is ingenious, elegant and environmentally insightful.
