German inventor Clemens Bimek has invented a switch that can take out the need for vasectomies. The new “sperm switch” will be placed inside of the scrotum and allow men to turn their fertility on and off. Making family planning a lot easier and effective as many more men would take control instead of relying on women. What this means is that the switch controls whether or not the sperm reaches the penis. This provides a much safer option for those who may not want to risks involving surgery.

How is it done? It requires a 30 min outpatient surgey where the device is inserted. There are warnings about this on though, like pills there is a waiting period before the contraception is at full effect. It will be inserted in the open position and once closed the sperm will be present in the ejaculatory fluid for approximately a month. Therefore, men are encouraged to see an Urologist for a sperm analysis after one month to ensure all sperm is out of the system before relying on the Bimek SLV for contraceptive purposes.
