History vs HIStory

During the introduction to my contextual studies module, it was brought to my attention that history may not be real. Of course, if you had porridge for breakfast then you obviously know it to be the past and therefore that particular historic event is real. However, in the cases of historical events that occured to shape the way we live now, how much of it can actually be true?

Did it happen that way? Or did someone influencial enough say it did and the whole world just followed along?

So here's the question: Is it History or HIStory?

What do you think?
