The word Design is defined as:

However my own personal definition of design would be:

1. verb. Creating a product which is unique to other products available (even through enhancement/adaptations).

2. noun. The early stages of production (ideation)

If I were to use my own words, I would define History as: 1. noun. Series of events leading up to the present (this can be in relation to anyone or anything)

There is no dictionary definition of design history, but I would interpret it as:

The study of products in terms of their historical design and stylistic context. For Example, The history of the shoe. Who designed them like that and why? What has caused the shoe to drift from function to form? From sandals to heels?
